Mini-Review: 24

(AceShowbiz. November 27, 2008.

Fox’s “24” should certainly be television’s number one ranked show. The action packed, drama filled series is by far the best show currently airing. For those people who have not been following this addicting show, “24” is composed of 24 episodes each season with each hour long episode representing a real hour of time. This seventh season, set in Washington D.C., is full of shocking and realistic outcomes, just like every single episode and season before. It’s notorious for killing off beloved characters and leaving viewers with the most exasperating cliffhangers for the next episode. One may wonder why this may make it a better show. As each episode and season digresses, the viewer builds a love and connection for the characters. It breaks our hearts when one of the ‘good guys’ gets killed off of the show, and we’re there to cheer on Jack and the others when they take down terrorists and other threats to America.

“24” has been up for 57 Emmy Nominations and in 2006 won for Outstanding Dramatic Series. Its main star Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland who also won in 2006 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, has had one rough life since he started this show in 2001. Viewers will be happy to hear that he is sticking around for an eighth season. Newest co-star Annie Wersching, who plays FBI agent Renee Walker, will also be around for next season to add some interesting twists, possibly even in Jack’s personal life. Maybe we’ll see a new love blossom in season eight.

For some, “24” may be a hard show to get hooked on. This is simply because the show has many twists and turns; missing one episode makes one ask what in the world happened and may become lost. As for me, I make sure to find a television to sit in front of every Monday night at 9 pm. If one does watch the show, they know it has a little bit for everyone to enjoy. A woman president is in office for this season, and is constantly being accused of letting her emotions get in the way of making her decisions. Many women relate to the family obligations President Taylor (Cherry Jones) battles with throughout the season. FBI agents are constantly involved throughout each episode that shows viewers what it is truly like to be an agent.

Trust me, and the hundreds of thousands of viewers, once you start watching you’ll be unable to stop. Every Monday night, the television will be on Channel 11 Fox to view the next exciting hour of heart wrenching twists in the television series of “24”.
